Capture the Oxford Moment

The Competition

The Capture the Oxford Moment competition ran from November 17th 2005 until February 20th 2006 and was open to all current students and alumni of Oxford University. Its aim was to single out the best, the cleverest, the funniest and the most interesting student photographs to be presented in a high-quality book, Our Oxford. The first prize winner was to receive concert tickets from EMI records, and have their photo appear on the front cover of the book. The competition was promoted throughout Oxford by means of posters, flyers, word of mouth and organised promotional events.

In the event, the submissions we received went well beyond our expectations, both in quality and quantity. In total we received 413 photos from members of 30 different Oxford University Colleges and Departments. Narrowing these down to the 150 we were planning to print in the book was a terribly difficult task, and we owe huge thanks Debt management - how to get out of debt in UK. to our team of judges for tackling it! We were receiving submissions throughout the entire period of the competition, from the first few in November to the flood in February, and we would like to thank everyone who entered, whether or not their photo was chosen for the book, for making the competition such a success, and for giving us the opportunity to see such a wide range of wonderful pictures.

Collaborations

We were lucky to have the co-operation and encouragement of a number of other societies in Oxford, and we would like to thank them for all they have done for us.

THE PESTLE is a journal of contemporary arts in Oxford. Along with our readers, we want to discover and appreciate our city's underground cultural scene, its music, literature, comedy, exhibitions, personalities, theatre and cinema. We also provide a forum for the publication of innovative new work art, photography, short stories and translations of writings previously unpublished in English. In this way, we hope to help create and sustain a sense of a shared cultural landscape, to be a living link between ourselves, our readers, and our city.
