
About Us
Joanna Rogers is studying Japanese at Pembroke College and is currently in her third year. She has represented her college in rowing and has also coached and been a member of the boat club committee. In addition she is a member of the Oxford Millennium Orchestra and hopes to continue playing this year. The Capture the Oxford Moment project is an inspired idea to both raise funds and awareness for some seriously under-funded Oxford charities and also to give people an illustration of what Oxford student life is actually like. She hopes that as many Oxford students as possible get involved and show the world exactly what Oxford means to them!
Hayley Burwell is now a third year student at St. Hilda's studying Japanese, having previously lived in South Africa, Botswana, Wales and Scotland. to the semi-finals, and has also rowed in Torpids and Summer Eights. Having decided that erging and jogging are not really her thing, she has now moved on to become a cox. She has also represented St. Hilda's in the 2nds netball team and helped organise the St. Hilda's College Artsfest 2005. 'Hayley is extremely excited about this project, and
believes it is a fantastic opportunity to raise funds for such valuable
charities. She hopes it will capture the imagination of Oxford students!
Philip Howard has successfully managed to reach his third year of a mathematics degree at Pembroke College. Like many others, he has a boatie history. The 2nd VIII runs through his veins and he is very much proud that they remain on top of all other 2nds. The Boat club was something that he also treasured but now takes on more of an advisory role. He has also dabbled with College Ultimate Frisbee and Table Tennis, the later of which he captained last year. Phil has spent the last two Summers working for Deloitte which he has enjoyed and this has given him valuable experience, knowledge and confidence. Being the last member aboard on the capture the Oxford moment project, he hopes he can keep up with the pace at which it is moving and is excited with the enthusiasm surrounding it.
Helen Burt is in her third year of studying Japanese at Pembroke College, went to Japan for four months in 2004 and is hoping to return in 2006. She is considering both teaching and translation work as possibly career paths and intends one day to publish her writing. She also has a deep-rooted love of graphical and web design that has enabled her to deal with the technical details of Capture the Oxford Moment. She is interested in photography and publishing and is finding the whole project fascinating and exciting.
